The Iraqi High Tribunal, formerly the Iraqi Special Tribunal and sometimes called the Supreme Iraqi Criminal Tribunal, is a body created under Iraqi national law to try Iraqi nationals or residents accused of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes and other serious crimes committed between 1968 and 2003. It was set up by a statute issued under the Coalition Provisional Authority and later reaffirmed under the Iraqi Interim Government, and was renamed in 2005 after the constitution barred special or exceptional courts. It organized the trial of Saddam Hussein and other senior members of his Ba'ath Party regime.
