District courts of Albania

The district courts of Albania, known in Albanian as Gjykatat e Rrethit Gjyqesor, are the courts of first instance in Albania, providing the initial level of justice for civil and criminal matters. Albania maintains 23 district courts staffed by 251 judges in total, each with jurisdiction over its own geographic region, alongside one specialized court of nationwide jurisdiction, the Court of First Instance for Serious Crimes, which handles particularly grave criminal matters across the country.
