United States Virgin Islands Superior Court

The Superior Court of the Virgin Islands is the trial court of general jurisdiction for the United States Virgin Islands, staffed by nine judges appointed by the governor and confirmed by the territorial Legislature to six year terms. Effective January 29, 2007, the newly created Supreme Court of the Virgin Islands took over appellate jurisdiction from the Superior Court. The position of presiding judge rotates every three years between the court's St. Croix and St. Thomas/St. John divisions according to seniority; Debra S. Watlington has served as presiding judge since August 1, 2022.
