Connecticut Judicial Marshal

The Connecticut Judicial Marshals are court officers in the state of Connecticut. They are sworn peace officers with powers of arrest who perform prisoner transport and courthouse security. The Connecticut Judicial Marshal System was created in 2000 to replace the former Connecticut County Sheriffs and took over their services, including prisoner transport and processing, judicial and courthouse security, bailiff duties, and staffing cell blocks within Judicial Branch courthouses; unlike the sheriffs they replaced, Judicial Marshals do not carry firearms while on duty.
