Christine Chinkin, born in 1949, is a British professor of international law. She is the founding director of the Centre for Women, Peace and Security at the London School of Economics and Political Science and also holds the William W. Cook Global Law Professorship at the University of Michigan Law School. Her work focuses on public international law with particular attention to women rights and armed conflict, and she served on the United Nations Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict. She was appointed a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George in 2017 for services to advancing women human rights worldwide and is a Fellow of the British Academy.
