Constitution of Monaco

The Constitution of Monaco was first adopted in 1911 in the aftermath of the Monegasque Revolution and was substantially rewritten by Prince Rainier III on 17 December 1962, with further modification to the rules of succession on 2 April 2002. It establishes a system of governance in which power is shared between three branches of government and the reigning prince. At roughly 3,800 words, it is described as the shortest constitution currently in force among the world's sovereign states.
