The Constitutional Laws of 1875 were a set of laws passed by the French National Assembly between February and July 1875 that established the French Third Republic. Rather than a single codified constitution, France at this time was governed by this set of organic laws, which set up a bicameral parliament, a President of the Republic, and a Council of Ministers. The 1875 laws remained the basic constitutional framework of France, heavily amended over time, through the Third Republic and, in modified form, through the Vichy period, before being formally revoked upon the promulgation of the Constitution of the Fourth Republic in 1946.
