Constitution of the Republic of the Congo

The Constitution of the Republic of the Congo was approved by referendum on 25 October 2015, establishing a semi-presidential system to replace a presidential arrangement that had been in place since 2009. It reinstated the position of Prime Minister, reduced the presidential term from seven to five years while permitting up to three terms, and created a bicameral parliament of a National Assembly and Senate under a decentralized, secular, multi party democracy in which the Council of Ministers is appointed by the president.
