Constitution of Madagascar

Madagascar's Fourth Republic constitution was endorsed by referendum on 14 November 2010, with results announced on 22 November showing about 74 percent of voters in favor on a turnout of about 53 percent. It establishes a bicameral parliament of a Senate and National Assembly, an elected president serving up to two five year terms, and a prime minister nominated by parliament and approved by the president, and it lowered the minimum age for presidential candidates from forty to thirty five. The Fourth Republic constitution has been suspended since a military coup on 14 October 2025, and a Fifth Republic constitution was being drafted for submission to voters as of that date.
