Guinea's current constitution was approved by referendum on 21 September 2025, the fifth constitution in the country's history since independence from France in 1958. It replaced the 2010 constitution, which had been suspended after the September 2021 military coup; a draft text released in June 2025 was put to the referendum that followed. The new constitution permits changes to presidential term limits, a provision that drew significant public debate during drafting.
