National Code of Nepal

The National Code of Nepal, known as the Muluki Ain, was a comprehensive legal code enacted by King Mahendra on April 12, 1963 and implemented from August 17, 1963, unifying Nepal's criminal law, civil law and procedural law in a single text covering crimes and punishments alongside family law, property, contracts and inheritance. It replaced the 1854 Muluki Ain, the country's foundational modern legal text, and itself remained in force for over five decades until it was superseded in 2017 by two separate codes, the National Penal Code and the National Civil Code.
