General Penal Code (Iceland)

The General Penal Code governs the criminal law of Iceland. It was passed as Act no. 19, and revised acts have since been adopted in principal areas of law, such as the Act on Customs and the Act in Respect of Children. In recent years legislation has also been updated in particular fields such as banking, communications, corporations and intellectual property rights. The code is therefore the core criminal statute around which a wider body of specialised Icelandic legislation is periodically revised.
