Modern Legislators and Statute Authors

Nicolas Charles Arnould Hentz (1753 to 1830) was a French jurist and revolutionary politician who became a lawyer in 1780 and served as a justice of the peace before his election as a deputy for Moselle to the National Convention in 1792, where he aligned with the Mountain faction. He later served on the legislative committee that helped compile the Napoleonic Code, proposed limits on inheritances during his parliamentary service, and after the Bourbon Restoration of 1815 emigrated to the United States, settling in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, where he continued writing until his death.
