Abdel Khalek Sarwat Pasha

Abdel Khalek Sarwat Pasha lived from 1873 to 1928 and was an Egyptian political figure and jurist who served as Prime Minister of Egypt from March to November 1922 and again from April 1927 to March 1928. He graduated with a license de droit from the Khedival School of Law in 1893, spent his early career in the Ministry of Justice, and became the first Egyptian Attorney General in 1908 and Minister of Justice from 1914 to 1919. As prime minister he was instrumental in the Unilateral Declaration of Egyptian Independence issued by Britain in February 1922, which ended the British protectorate over Egypt, and he later negotiated with Britain over Egypt's remaining reserved points of sovereignty. He died in Paris in 1928.
