Charles Holland Locke (1887-1980) was a Canadian Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada who served in the First World War with the Canadian military and received the Military Cross, and who read law rather than receiving university legal training, the last member of the court to have done so. Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King appointed him, at age 59, a Puisne Justice on June 3, 1947, succeeding Albert Hudson, and he was the first Supreme Court of Canada appointee born in western Canada; he served until September 16, 1962. He practiced law in Manitoba and British Columbia before his appointment and was made a Companion of the Order of Canada in 1971.
