Samuel Henry Strong was an English-Canadian lawyer and judge who was among the original six justices appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada when it was established in 1875, and who served as the third Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada from 13 December 1892 to 18 November 1902. Born on 13 August 1825, he was noted for deep legal knowledge but also for an abrasive manner that created internal divisions among the justices, and his tenure was marked by interpersonal conflict and the continuing supremacy of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council over the Canadian court. He died on 31 August 1909.
