Francis Alexander Anglin was a Canadian lawyer and judge born April 2, 1865 in Saint John, New Brunswick, who built a legal practice in Toronto before joining the Ontario High Court of Justice in 1904 and the Supreme Court of Canada in 1909. He served as a puisne justice until 1924, when he was elevated to Chief Justice of Canada, a post he held until 1933; he is remembered in part for his 1928 ruling in the Persons Case that women were not qualified persons eligible for Senate appointment, a decision later overturned by the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. He died March 2, 1933.
