Delia Revoredo

Delia Clotilde Genoveva Revoredo Marsano is a Peruvian lawyer and jurist born in Lima on 1 February 1943 who became the first woman to serve as a magistrate of the Constitutional Court of Peru, a post she held on two separate occasions. She earned her law degree in 1975 and specialized in international law. In 1997, together with fellow magistrates Manuel Aguirre Roca and Guillermo Rey Terry, she ruled that a law purporting to offer an authentic interpretation of the presidential reelection clause of the constitution could not be applied to incumbent President Alberto Fujimori, a ruling that led the Congress of Peru to dismiss all three magistrates. In January 2001 the Inter-American Court of Human Rights found that their dismissal had violated the judicial guarantees of the American Convention on Human Rights and ordered their reinstatement.
