Donal Gerard O'Donnell, born 25 October 1957 in Belfast, is an Irish jurist who has served as the 13th Chief Justice of Ireland since October 2021, succeeding Frank Clarke. Called to the Bar of Ireland in 1982 and to the Bar of Northern Ireland in 1989, he took silk as Senior Counsel in 1995 and built a practice in commercial, public and constitutional law, frequently appearing on behalf of the Irish State, before receiving a rare direct appointment from practice to the Supreme Court of Ireland in 2010.
