George Leggatt, Baron Leggatt

George Andrew Midsomer Leggatt, Baron Leggatt, born 12 November 1957, is a British judge who has served as a Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom since 21 April 2020, succeeding Lord Carnwath of Notting Hill. Called to the bar in 1983 and appointed Queen's Counsel in 1997, he built an extensive commercial law practice at Brick Court Chambers specializing in banking, insurance and product liability before serving as a High Court judge from 2012 and a Lord Justice of Appeal from February 2018; his judicial work has shaped English contract law doctrine, particularly on the duty of good faith.
