The Supreme Court of Denmark is the highest court in the Kingdom of Denmark and the third and final instance in civil and criminal cases, and its judgments cannot be appealed to any other Danish court. Founded on 14 February 1661 by King Frederik III to replace King Christian IV's King's Court, it originally sat with thirty justices and today numbers eighteen, hearing cases in two chambers from its seat at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen.
