Marcel Antoine Lihau (1931 to 1999) was a Congolese jurist and law professor who served as the first President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Democratic Republic of the Congo from 1968 to 1975. Educated in law at the Catholic University of Leuven, he was one of the first Congolese people to earn a law degree and later became dean of the law faculty at Lovanium University, also leading the commission that drafted a permanent national constitution for Congo. He was dismissed from the Supreme Court in 1975 after refusing to impose harsh sentences on student protesters, a stand remembered as a defense of judicial independence.
