Mohamed Khadhar Ibrahim

Mohamed Khadhar Ibrahim (1956-2025) was a Kenyan lawyer who served as a justice of the Supreme Court of Kenya from June 2012 until his death in December 2025. He was one of five nominees the Judicial Service Commission selected in 2012 after interviewing twenty-five applicants, and as a Supreme Court justice he took part in the landmark 2013 decision dismissing the challenges to that year's presidential election; when Chief Justice Willy Mutunga retired in 2016, Ibrahim, as the most senior remaining judge, became acting President of the Supreme Court. A vetting board initially found him unfit to serve over delays in his High Court judgments, but he was later cleared after fresh vetting.
