Legal reception

In legal theory, reception is the process by which one legal system borrows individual rules, institutions or whole areas of law from another system and adopts them as its own, often along with the style or methodology of the system that served as the model. The phenomenon appears throughout legal history and has been described under a range of related terms, including legal transplants, diffusion, legal transfer, influence, inspiration, export and cross fertilization.
