Undang-Undang Melaka

The Undang-Undang Melaka was the legal code of the Malacca Sultanate, believed to have been first compiled during the reign of Sultan Muhammad Shah in the early 15th century and expanded continuously until the sultanate fell in 1511. Originally 19 chapters, it grew to 44 chapters covering maritime affairs, marriage, Islamic jurisprudence, commerce and state governance, blending customary Malay adat with Islamic legal principles. It became a model for the legal codes of other regional sultanates, including Johor, Perak, Brunei, Pattani and Aceh, making it one of the most influential Malay legal texts of its era.
