Kyŏngguk taejŏn

The Kyongguk taejon is the foundational legal code of the Korean Joseon dynasty, compiling the laws, customs and decrees inherited from the late Goryeo period alongside new Joseon statutes. Commissioned in 1458 by King Sejo and completed in 1467, it was organized under the Six Ministries of the Joseon government and, in its third and final revision issued in 1485 under King Seongjong, became the standard on which more than five centuries of Joseon governance rested. The oldest surviving copy is a 1613 reprint held at the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies.
