Hukum Kanun Pahang

Hukum Kanun Pahang is the legal code of the historic Pahang Sultanate, compiled between 1592 and 1614 under Sultan Abdul Ghafur Muhiuddin Shah and modeled on earlier legal texts from Melaka, whose 44 clauses it expanded to 93. The code blends Malay customary law, known as adat, with principles of Islamic sharia, and its clauses address criminal law, commercial law, family and marriage law, religious offenses, and constitutional matters concerning the role of the sultan and his ministers. It went on to influence the legal systems of Johor after 1623, Perak, and Brunei, and is described as one of the oldest digests of law compiled in the Malay world. Malaysia recognized the code as part of its National Heritage List in 2012.
