Common Law in Australasia and the Pacific

Common law legal systems of Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific islands, where English law was received in the colonial period and later adapted by local statute and, increasingly, by recognition of indigenous custom. A legal system belongs here when its cited article describes the law of Australia, New Zealand or a Pacific state or the region as a whole as common law. It excludes the customary and indigenous legal orders of the same regions, which sit among the customary law systems.
