Ibn Ata Allah al-Iskandari (1259-1310) was an Egyptian jurist of the Maliki school and Ashari theologian who served as the third spiritual guide of the Shadhiliyya Sufi order. He taught hadith and jurisprudence at al-Azhar Mosque and the Mansuriyyah madrasa in Cairo, training legal scholars including Taj al-Din al-Subki and Shihab al-Din al-Qarafi, and recorded the biographies of the Shadhiliyya founders. He is most widely known for Kitab al-Hikam, a collection of 261 aphorisms blending his jurisprudential training with Sufi spiritual guidance.
