Abu Muhammad al-Juwayni was a Sunni scholar based in Khorasan in the tenth century, ranked among the leading jurists (faqih) and legal theoreticians (usuli) of his time. He was also an Arabic grammarian, a Quran exegete, and a scholar of theology, literature, and hadith. He was the father of the more famous Imam al-Haramayn al-Juwayni, whom he first taught.
