Muhammad ibn Yusuf al-Sanusi (1426-1490) was an Islamic scholar of the Maghreb, in present day Algeria, an Ashari theologian, Maliki jurist, Sufi and mufti. He is best known for his foundational contributions to Islamic creed and theology, and issued legal opinions as a Maliki mufti, though his lasting legacy rests chiefly on his graded theological works, which were designed to make Islamic doctrine accessible and rationally defensible.
