Ahmad Zarruq (1442-1493) was a Moroccan scholar, born in Tiliwan and later based in Misrata in present day Libya, ranked among the most prominent scholars of the late Maliki school of Islamic jurisprudence and associated with the Shadhili Sufi order. He is described as one of the most prominent legal, theoretical and spiritual scholars in Islamic history, though he is perhaps better known as a Shadhili sheikh and founder of the Zarruqiyya branch of that order.
