Abd al-Karim ibn Hawazin al-Qushayri al-Naysaburi (986-1072) was an Arab Muslim scholar of Nishapur remembered as a theologian, jurist, and legal theoretician as well as a Quran commentator, hadith transmitter, grammarian, and Sufi spiritual master. He combined the formal training of a Shafi'i jurist and hadith expert with a strong inclination toward mysticism and an ascetic way of life, and mastered a wide range of the Islamic sciences of his era.
