Abd al-Razzaq ibn Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani (1134-1207) was a Persian Sunni Hanbali theologian, jurist, hadith traditionalist, and Sufi mystic based in Baghdad. He received his early training in the Islamic sciences from his father, Abdul-Qadir Gilani, founder of the Qadiriyya Sufi order, before studying further under other prominent Hanbali scholars of the region. He was honored in Sunni tradition with the epithet Taj al-Din for his standing as a mystic of the Hanbali school.
