Sextus Pomponius, who flourished in the 2nd century, was a Roman jurist who lived during the reigns of the emperors Hadrian, Antoninus Pius and Marcus Aurelius; no birth or death date is recorded for him beyond this span of activity. He wrote the Enchiridion, a handbook on Roman law up to the time of Hadrian, whose substantial excerpts survive in Justinian Digest, particularly in passages addressing the origins of Roman constitutional structures and governmental offices. His Enchiridion became foundational reference material for later compilations of Roman law.
