Federal Supreme Court of Iraq

Constitutional Courts

The Federal Supreme Court of Iraq is an independent judicial body, financially and administratively, and acts as the country's constitutional court within the federal judicial power. Under Article 93 it oversees the constitutionality of laws and regulations in force, interprets the Constitution, settles disputes between the federal government and the regions and governorates, hears accusations against the President, Prime Minister and ministers, and ratifies the final results of general elections. The Constitution leaves its size and selection to a law passed by two-thirds of the Council of Representatives, and its decisions are final and binding on all authorities. Iraq's President appointed Munther Ibrahim Hussein as its head in June 2025.
