Fausto Pocar

He is professor emeritus of International Law at the University of Milan, where he also taught Private International Law and European Law, and where he served many years as Faculty Dean and Vice-Rector.

He also served as Italian delegate in the UNCOPUOS (UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space) and its Legal SubCommittee. In 1999, he was appointed as a judge to the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY), and was Vice-President of the tribunal from November 2003 to November 2005, and President from November 2005 to November 2008. He was also a member of the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) from 2000 until the ICTR's closure in 2015, where he presided over many cases, including the one whereby the ICTR was closed.
