Charles Dadi Umeha Onyeama, who lived from April 26, 1916, to September 5, 1999, was a Nigerian jurist who became the first Nigerian judge of the International Court of Justice. He served as Chief Magistrate in 1952, a High Court judge from 1957, and a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria from 1964 to 1967. After African states pressed for greater representation on the International Court of Justice following unpopular 1966 rulings, Onyeama was elected in November 1966 to the seat previously held by an Australian judge, serving from 1967 to 1976 and being succeeded by fellow Nigerian jurist Taslim Elias.
