All International Criminal Court Judges

International Criminal Court Judges gathers the judges of the International Criminal Court, the permanent tribunal seated in The Hague and established by the 1998 Rome Statute to prosecute individuals for genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes and the crime of aggression when national courts are unable or unwilling to do so. Eighteen judges sit at a time, elected by the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute for nine year terms and assigned to the court's Pre-Trial, Trial and Appeals Divisions, and the Statute itself requires the bench to reflect the principal legal systems of the world and an equitable geographic and gender balance. Distinct from the ad hoc international criminal tribunals grouped elsewhere in this subcategory, the International Criminal Court is a standing, treaty based institution with jurisdiction over crimes committed after 2002.
