Raymond Ranjeva, born August 31, 1942, in Antananarivo, is a Malagasy jurist and legal academic who earned his law degree from the University of Madagascar in 1965, later returning to serve as a professor of law there from 1981 to 1991. He held a doctorate from Pantheon-Assas University in Paris and lectured at the Hague Academy of International Law in 1987 and 1997. He served as a judge of the International Court of Justice from February 1991 to February 2009, being reelected in 2000, and served as the court's vice president from 2003 to 2006.
