Andres Aguilar Mawdsley, who lived from July 10, 1924, to October 24, 1995, was a Venezuelan lawyer and diplomat who earned a doctorate in political and social sciences from the Universidad Central de Venezuela and a master's degree in civil law from McGill University in Montreal. He represented Venezuela as ambassador to the United Nations and as envoy to the United States, and served as Venezuela's minister of justice from 1958 to 1962. He was elected a judge of the International Court of Justice in a term beginning February 1991 and served until his death in October 1995, roughly halfway through his nine-year term.
