Sergey Golunsky

Sergey Alexandrovich Golunsky, who lived from 1895 to 1962, was a Soviet legal scholar, diplomat and doctor of jurisprudence who specialized in international law and forensics and taught as a professor at Moscow State University. With M. S. Strogovich he co-authored the first Soviet textbook on the theory of state and law, published in 1940 and used to train generations of Soviet jurists. He took part in the Potsdam and San Francisco conferences and served as a Soviet prosecutor at the Tokyo Trial of Japanese war criminals, and he served as a judge of the International Court of Justice from 1952 to 1953.
