Mykola Gnatovskyy

Mykola Gnatovskyy is a Ukrainian jurist born on 1 July 1977 in Kyiv. He earned an LLM in international law in 1999 and a doctorate in international law in 2002, both from the Institute of International Relations at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, where he has taught international humanitarian law, international criminal law and human rights law for over two decades, rising to deputy director for academic affairs at the Institute. He served on the Council of Europes European Committee for the Prevention of Torture from 2009 to 2021, including three terms as its president from 2015 to 2021, was first vice-president of the Ukrainian Association of International Law, and sat on Ukraines National Commission for the Implementation of International Humanitarian Law from 2015 to 2022. He was elected Ukraines judge at the European Court of Human Rights for a nine-year term commencing 27 June 2022.
