Juha Lavapuro

Juha Lavapuro is a Finnish jurist born on 29 February 1968 in Nokia. He earned a masters of laws from the University of Turku in 1994, a further masters from New York University School of Law in 1999, and a doctorate of laws from the University of Turku in 2011, becoming professor of public law there in 2018 after earlier posts as professor of law in digital society at Turku and associate professor of public law at Tampere University. He served as an expert to the Constitutional Law Committee of the Finnish Parliament from 2000 to 2024 and sat as a justice of the Supreme Administrative Court from 2020, acting at first and then permanently from 2021. He was elected Finlands judge at the European Court of Human Rights on 26 June 2024 for a nine-year term.
