Faris Vehabović

Faris Vehabovic is a Bosnian judge who has served as the judge of the European Court of Human Rights in respect of Bosnia and Herzegovina since December 2012, elected to a nine year term in October 2012. Before joining the Strasbourg court he served as a judge of the Constitutional Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2007 to 2012 and as that court's vice president from 2008 to 2012. He was a member of the Association of Judges of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and lectured at the centres that train judges and prosecutors there. On the European Court of Human Rights he has written dissenting opinions in cases touching Bosnia and Herzegovina's constitutional order, including criticism that a Grand Chamber ruling amounted to a strategic retreat that closed off further Strasbourg litigation over the country's constitutional arrangements.
