Davor Derencinovic is a Croatian jurist born on 7 August 1970 in Zagreb. He graduated from the Faculty of Law in Zagreb in 1995, earned a masters there in 1998 and a doctorate in 2000 with a thesis on criminal law responses to corruption, and held a Fulbright postdoctoral fellowship at the International Human Rights Law Institute of DePaul College of Law in Chicago in 2004 and 2005. He is a full professor of criminal law and head of the department of criminal law at the Zagreb Faculty of Law, has served as president of the Croatian Academy of Legal Sciences, and worked as a consultant to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the United Nations Development Programme. He sat as an ad hoc judge of the European Court of Human Rights in respect of Croatia from 2010, and was elected a full judge on 22 June 2021 for a nine-year term commencing 2 January 2022.
