All Ad Hoc International Criminal Tribunal Judges

Ad Hoc International Criminal Tribunal Judges gathers the judges of the temporary, situation specific international criminal tribunals the United Nations and allied governments created to prosecute atrocities where no standing international court yet existed: the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, the Special Court for Sierra Leone, the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia, the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, and the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals that now carries out the residual functions of the Yugoslav and Rwandan tribunals after their own closure. Each tribunal was established for a specific conflict or atrocity and given a limited mandate rather than permanent, general jurisdiction, distinguishing its judges from those of the permanent International Criminal Court grouped elsewhere in this subcategory, and together these tribunals built much of the modern legal doctrine on genocide, command responsibility and crimes against humanity that the permanent court now applies.
