Treaties that limit weapons or bind states into defensive alliances: the biological weapons ban, the anti-ballistic missile and START treaties, the landmine ban and the regional security pacts of the Pacific and Japan. A document belongs here when its cited article describes an arms control treaty or a collective defence or security treaty. It excludes the peace and territorial treaties. Defence pacts are admitted along with arms limitation treaties because both bind states to commitments on the use and balance of armed force.
