Treaty of Osimo

The Treaty of Osimo was signed on 10 November 1975 in Osimo, Italy, by Italy and Yugoslavia in order to divide the Free Territory of Trieste definitively between the two states. The port city of Trieste with a narrow coastal strip to the north-west, known as Zone A, went to Italy, while a portion of the north-western part of the Istrian peninsula, known as Zone B, went to Yugoslavia. Its full title is the Treaty on the delimitation of the frontier for the part not indicated as such in the Peace Treaty of 10 February 1947, and the text was written in French. Mariano Rumor signed for Italy as Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Milos Minic signed for Yugoslavia as Federal Secretary for Foreign Affairs. The treaty became effective on 11 October 1977.
