Supreme Court of Justice of Sao Tome and Principe

National Supreme Courts (Last Resort)

The Supreme Court of Justice of Sao Tome and Principe, the Supremo Tribunal de Justiça, is under article 127 of the 2003 Constitution the highest judicial tribunal of the Republic and is responsible for watching over the harmony of jurisprudence. The Constitution lists it first among the categories of courts, ahead of the Court of First Instance, the Regional Court and the District Courts, and it provides that the judges of the Supreme Court of Justice are named and dismissed by the National Assembly in the terms of law. The World Factbook archive describes a court of five judges whom the National Assembly appoints. The member page of the association of francophone supreme courts gives its postal address on Avenue 12 Julho in Sao Tome and names Manuel Silva Gomes Cravid as President from 21 April 2022.
